लेकिन जब बात डॉक्टर के समर्पण, जुनून और सेवा की हो, तो उत्तर प्रदेश के चंदौली जिले के चकिया कस्बे में रहने वाले डॉ. वीरेंद्र प्रताप सिंह का नाम गर्व और श्रद्धा से सबसे ऊपर आता है। आज जब पूरा देश डॉक्टर डे मना रहा है, तब चकिया वासी उस शख्स को सलाम कर रहे हैं जो 62 वर्षों से लगातार मरीजों की सेवा कर रहा है — बिना थके, बिना झुके, पूरी निष्ठा और ईमानदारी के साथ।

सुबह से शाम तक OPD, बिना रुके काउंसलिंग, और कई बार रात को भी आपातकालीन केस में क्लीनिक खोल देना — यह उनकी रूटीन है, और यही कारण है कि चकिया ही नहीं, आसपास के दर्जनों गांवों से लोग केवल “डॉक्टर साहब” से दिखाने आते हैं।
उनकी मुस्कुराहट में अपनापन है, उनके शब्दों में दवा से ज्यादा ढाढ़स होता है, और उनकी सादगी में वो करिश्मा है जो बड़े से बड़े अस्पताल नहीं दे पाते।

👉 छोटे बेटे – डॉ. विवेक प्रताप सिंह — चकिया के प्रसिद्ध “द्रविलोक हॉस्पिटल” के एम.डी. हैं और मॉडर्न टेक्नोलॉजी से ग्रामीण क्षेत्र में मेडिकल सुविधाएं पहुँचा रहे हैं।
